Information we collect
Local Tips collects the name, email address, password credential, account role, and session information needed to create and secure an account. Passwords are salted and hashed before storage. If you choose social sign-in, we store the provider’s account identifier and the profile information you approve.
The app also stores optional profile photos, notification preferences, referral and promotion activity, deal redemptions, venue votes, and subscription or deal entitlement status. Vendor accounts may provide a business address, phone number, website, hours, and listing details.
Location and device access
With permission, the app reads foreground location to center the map and find events near a city or postal code. Raw latitude and longitude are not saved to the user profile. Camera frames used to scan a Local Tips referral code and calendar information used to save an event stay on the device. A profile photo is uploaded only when the user chooses one.
How we use information
We use account data to authenticate users, show nearby venues and events, provide deal access, record redemptions and votes, run driver referrals, send service email, prevent abuse, and support users. Card payments are processed directly by Stripe; Local Tips does not store card numbers. Membership purchases are processed by Apple or Google and verified through RevenueCat.
Service providers
Local Tips uses service providers for application hosting and data storage, transactional email, maps, payment processing, social sign-in, and app distribution. These providers process data only to operate their services. We do not sell personal information.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit. We retain account information while the account is active and as needed to provide the service, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Access is limited to authorized operators and approved service providers.
Your choices
You can decline location, camera, photo, calendar, and notification permissions in device settings. You can update your name, photo, password, and notification preference in the app. To delete an account and associated data, follow the steps on our account deletion page.
Age limits
Local Tips is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
